Data Analysis

If you enjoy gaming, have some IT knowledge and love data, then perhaps you can apply your skills to brings esports to the next level. As Data Analyst, your work contributes to two different fields: Strategy and Research. Your tasks usually include extracting useful information out of the games and using this data to support one of the two fields.

Combine your gaming knowledge with your data and create new strategies for our esports teams to perform even better. Currently, most strategies are created by intuition and trial and error; we will work towards a fact-based approach on in-game decisionmaking. You will be invaluable to our coaches and team members in taking those small (and big) advantages.

Possible time windows: 3 months – 1 year | Part-time: 12 hours per week

As Data Analyst, your work contributes to two different fields: Strategy and Research. Your tasks usually include extracting useful information out of the games and using this data to support one of the two fields.

Without information about ingame performance, it will be difficult to discover how to improve it. The research projects for the data analysis department are aimed at supporting the research. For example, by defining (and measuring) several factors that can indicate performance, you enable research projects for that game. Understanding how we can take the raw data from games (and consoles) and translate it to performance measures is one of the challenges our team is working on.

Possible time windows: 3 months – 1 year | Part-time: 12 hours per week

Our team is heavily intertwined with hardware (e.g. high-end PC’s) and software. As Software and Hardware Manager, you will make sure the consoles of our athletes remain on the highest performance, and recommend possible upgrades and investments. Furthermore, you will help out our research department with the different measurement tools and software.

Furthermore, you will manage collaborations with external parties with respect to our research projects, both by acquiring new collaborations in cooperation with the Head of External Affairs and making sure we work towards the objectives of existing ones. Finally, you will also be involved in international discussions with colleague universities and parties throughout the world.

Possible time windows: 1 year | Full-time: 42 hours per week

You will work together with other team members on defined research questions in collaboration with experts and external parties, seeking to obtain a better understanding in which factors influence the performance of our athletes, and just as importantly, how we can improve this. You can propose your own research topic or work with us on one of our predefined research proposals. Depending on your interests, it is possible to fully focus on a single project, or work on several research projects at once! If you want a taste of academic research and push the boundaries of esports performance, then be sure to become one of ETT’s researchers!

Many external factors can influence this capacity, from having a bad day to being tilted by several losses in a row. Examples of potential study topics include: how to deal with tilt, how to maintain focus for extended periods of time and how to communicate with team members.
